How does society come about? Do people - agents - construct their social surroundings, or does societial structure construct or constrain agents?

Social Systems

Society is a system of interconnected agents, who come together in complex ways for mutual purposes.

Agency pertains to the human propensity to reflect and make autonoumous choices on their life.

Structure pertains to the institutional rules that govern the interaction of agents within a social system. For example, in the insitituion of education, a school will have certain rules, and agents (the students) will adapt their behaviour to synchronise with the school's structure.
